LET'S CATCH UP, LOVE!

Hello readers!!!! I have been soooooo busy living this college life. Besides my classes, I have been extremely busy with campaigning for the position of Miss LeMoyne- Owen College 2010-2011! The picture above is of my flyer that was posted around campus. Quinice Lee, one of my best friends in the entire universe, designed this for me! I did something each day last week to not only let my peers know me and vice verso but to show my campus that I am taking action NOW even as I campaign. As Miss LOC, I will devote myself to "Revitalizing the M.A.G.I.C in LOC". MAGIC stands for [M]mentorship[A]cademic excellence[G]raduation success[I]nspirational recrutiment[C]ommunity service....aspects that I feel will enhance LeMoyne-Owen College!What made this election so interesting was I competed against one of my Zeta sorors, Velma Maclin and two Kappas competed for Mr.LOC.

Voting was Friday and the results are said to be in Monday! I am super nervous! I just pray that the best candidates win. I know that if I did not win Miss LOC, I will be crowned Miss Purple & Gold and I can still help to make a difference on my campus and community!

I want to thank everyone who supported me this past week in any kind of way! I could have not done this alone!

When you step on an HBCU campus, you might think you are front row at a fashion show!!!! Almost everyboby got something name brand on and female students are strutin' in high heels! Funny but true!! Just as long as you don't put too much time in gettin ready for class than studyin' for class!

However when it comes to fashion on campus, I have learned that you can be CUTE & COMFORTABLE! My daily style is jeans & t-shirts.....flats & sneakers. In my blog I will show you ways to be a fashionista with books : )

Besides the LeMoyne vs Lane game, the LeMoyne vs. Rust game is HUGE!!! This year was no exception! It was CRUNK! I had so much fun!! My sorors from Rust came out too!

It's A Different World.....

My name is Shenika......but you can call me MISS NIKA BABY(Keri Hilson voice hehehe)! I am a 2nd semester junior at The LeMoyne Owen College in Memphis, TN and yes it is a HBCU. For those who don't know, a HBCU is a Historically Black Colleges and University. They are located throughout the USA. LOC is the ONLY HBCU in the city of Memphis. HBCUs have contrubited in so many ways in the advancement of not ony blacks but other minoroties. I am a Biology major with plans on attending some graduate school so I can make hella $$$$$$. No, seriously I am thinking about nursing as a career but that's another story!

I wanted to start this blog to let people know about black colleges and black students. My life is really like the show "A Different World"! I want to share my experices with my courses, friends, family, love, and sorority life( proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.) I will also talk about fashion and make-up because this is MY blog & I love that stuff : )
